Sentencing for accused mail bomber Guido Amsel will be live streamed from the Manitoba Court tomorrow November 22 at 1:00 PM. This case, which has captured national attention over the past three years has shaken the Winnipeg legal community.
Amsel, who is responsible for sending a mail bomb to the Winnipeg law office of a lawyer representing his ex-wife in a lawsuit against him. The letter bomb exploded and permanently injured his ex-wife’s lawyer. At his trial in May, Amsel contended that he is not guilty of the charges. However, at the trial Amsel was found guilty of 15 charges (four charges of attempted murder). His sentencing was delayed because he fired his trial lawyers. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some sense of justice to those impacted by Amsel’s actions, and help heal the Winnipeg legal community, and in particular the lawyer whose right to bodily integrity was interfered with by Amsel’s criminal actions.
