Omar Khadr absent from pre-trial hearing due to allegations of unreasonable searches and need for medical attention

Omar Khadr has refused to attend his pre-trial hearing alleging he has been subjected to unreasonable searches and has been forced to wear sensory-depriving earmuffs and eye goggles during transport to the hearings.  The Military Judge presiding over the hearing has said that he does not intend to second guess the care and security arrangements made by the military guards at Guantanamo Bay’s prison camps, and that the pre-trial hearing would proceed in Khadr’s absence.  Read the full story here.
