What do motel rooms and Waterloo Region Grade 5 classes have in common?

Apparently, they both distribute the Gideon’s New Testament Bible.

According to  reports in the Kitchener-Waterloo Record, the Waterloo District School Board has been giving Gideons International approval to offer Grade five public school children a free copy of the Bible.  You can read my opinion on the subject here.  And I would be remiss not to offer you the opinions of my critics.

    Hello Abby,

I read with great dismay and amazement at the recent decision of the Waterloo District School Board decision to approve Gideon Canada’s request to disseminate the Gideon Bible to Grade 5 students.

Although I have children in this district, and legal action would potentially have a financial impact, I believe this is an area where a stand must be made. Such activities as this distribution should not be condoned and need to be stopped. Unfortunately the most effective deterrent is to hit them in their pocket book. I fully support any legal action that is taken against the WRDSB in this area.

    Many regards,
    Michael
